Supervision is available for children who arrive from 8am onwards. Similarly, at the end of the school day, children may stay until 5.45pm when they can either play or complete their homework. Places for both these sessions are limited and children need to be enrolled.
Meals are organised by the town authorities. The canteen is self-service and the children eat between 11.30am and 1.30pm. Students (in further education) are responsible for lunch time supervision. The cost of a meal is between 0.75€ to 6.50€ depending on parental income. Meals are paid for at the end of each month.
During lunch-time, a number of activities are organised for groups of up to 15 children by the French or language teachers as well as parent ‘volunteers’ paid by the municipality. These activities are voluntary for the children.
Unlike most schools, the CSI is not a neighbourhood school. Children come from many parts of Lyon and its suburbs; some from outside the urban agglomeration.
A school bus system is in place serving 10 different areas (see below). The buses arrive at school at 8.45 in the morning and leave at 4.40 in the afternoon.
